basketball game

As football season is coming to an end, basketball season is just beginning. Tuesday was the first big basketball game at home against Purdue. My friends and I had to get our tickets about a month ago; hearing that there was a possibility it would be a sell out. The game started at seven and I got out of English just in time to take my school stuff back to my dorm and head for the game. Its hard being a freshman, the games are still fun, but I don’t really know any of the players, so its not as fun to watch games. I am a one half kind of girl, I can only handle about half of a basketball game or football game unless it is really close or intense. The beginning of the game was okay because I was with my friends, however as the score became obvious that we were going to get beat by a lot I had no interest in being there. It’s embarrassing to say, but the highlight of the game in my opinion was the dog show at half time. I have one dog, and he is a puppy. I know just how hard it is to train them to do simple things let alone tricks that involve the dog jumping off my chest and then catching a Frisbee. I was amazed. The game went okay, I left after half time when the score was not close at all. I know it’s early in the season, but I hope the basketball games are just as fun as the football games.

MITS buses

Since I have been to school, I have road the MITS bus a few times. The only place I have really gone was just to Wal-Mart. However, this weekend I had to venture out a bit further ha. We wanted to go to Joanne Fabrics to get some crafts to work on. Since its so cold outside, I find myself just hanging out a lot with my friends, and doing fun little things always takes up a lot of time. Every time I have tried catching a bus, it has only taken maybe five minutes, however this time it was a bit different. Saturday morning, we waited for about 30 minutes to catch the first bus that would then take us to the bus station. After we arrived to the station we had to wait for about 25 minutes until the final bus would come and take us to our destination, Joanne Fabrics. Don’t forget how cold it was either, waiting for a bus in the freezing cold almost made me rethink my decision of going on this trip to the store. Once on the final bus, it was about a half hour bus ride to where we would get off. We shopped for a bit and after we were done we dreaded the bus ride back, having to take two different buses. We finally decided to call someone to pick us up, not wanting to ride the bus back to campus. After that trip to Joanne Fabrics I can finally say that I will not be going out unless I have a car or know that the trip wont be so long. Our maybe hour trip to the store lead to a 2 hour and 30 minute ordeal. It was a good experience though, to say the least.

christmas decorating

My family has a tradition, where a few days after Thanksgiving, we put up our Christmas decorations. This year we made sure this happened, because now that I’m in college and there will not be a weekend where my whole family has nothing going on. So a few days after thanksgiving, we put up our tree and all our decorations. I like putting up the decorations, rather than taking them down. Listening to Christmas music, baking something, like cookies or a dessert and having my whole family at home, it was really nice. This routine gets me in the Christmas mood. I made sure that I saved a few strands of lights and some other decorations to bring back to my dorm room. My roommate, Leah, brought back a little Christmas tree and I brought back some lights. We started to decorate our room and are in the process of finishing it. We want to get some stockings and hang them somewhere in our room, but have not made a trip to Walmart yet. As I walk down the hall, all the rooms have started decorating for Christmas and it is so colorful. Our floor is also decorating our bathroom and hallway for the Christmas season. Our bathroom currently has fall decorations, including pumpkins and witches on the bathroom stalls, however, soon there will be a Christmas theme everywhere. Its neat to see everyone decorating, and I find it fun to decorate with my roommate. Christmas break will be here before we know it !

Thanksgiving

Five days off of school! Thanksgiving was a wonderful break and was definitely needed. I went to the BSU game on Tuesday evening, and yes it was freezing cold, but was totally worth it. Then said goodbye to my friends and headed home for break. I really enjoyed going home to visit relatives, friends and family members. Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, was amazing. It is easy to say that Thanksgiving is ranked in my top three favorite holidays, my birthday and Christmas being the other two. I just love being reunited with family members and eating a great meal. I actually had three thanksgiving meals on Thursday, crazy I know. One with my mom’s side of the family, one with my dad’s side of the family, and one with my boyfriends family. I was way to full by the end of the day. The rest of the break was very relaxing, but I really enjoyed it. I went to see the movie, Twilight, for the second time with my sister, went out to dinner with friends and just hung out. Sunday night I did not really want to come back but I knew I only had a few more weeks left until Christmas Break. However, this week is probably the worst week due to all the projects, exams and speeches I have for my classes. I feel like everything is being crammed into this one week and its horrible. Once I get through this week of classes I should be fine, next week I have nothing and then finals week, which probably wont be any fun either. Thanksgiving break was a great break and I really enjoyed catching up on sleep and just relaxing. I hope everyone had a good break also !

winter

I went to bed the other night with it being freezing outside. It was very windy and cold. I woke up in the morning and there were some snow flurries! I think I can say that it was the first “real snow fall”. Even if it was not much, it still snowed a bit. I really do not like the cold weather. I would much rather wear t-shirts and shorts then to get all bundled up and still be cold. I do enjoy dressing confy, in sweat pants and sweatshirts but I hate being cold. I feel like I am never comfortable, my dorm room is not that warm and the class rooms are not that warm either. This is just the beginning of my first winter on campus. I was so used to barely being outside every year up until now. If I wanted to go outside, it was my choice, but now I basically have to go outside several times a day to go to classes and its not fun. I have yet to find a warm winter coat. I have mine from last year but it is not doing the job. This weekend my goal is to get all the warm weather gear that I will need because I know that this winter is going to be freezing. However, some people are excited about the snow, like my roommate. I think the first snowfall is pretty but after that when the snow gets slushy and gross, I no longer enjoy it. My boyfriend wants to take me snowboarding this Christmas break, however I have never been and don’t know if I will like it or not. I am going to give it a try but may never do it again depending on how I like it. This is going to be a long winter for me.
